Take the Knock bus direct to the festival from Edinburgh and Glasgow. Tickets are only £28 return from Edinburgh and £23 from Glasgow. PUBLIC TRANSPORT INFORMATION
From the north, best route is to get to Glasgow by bus or train, then Glasgow to Ayr by bus or train, then bus to Dalmellington where local taxi firm (Town & Country Taxis) will be providing shuttle service from Dalmellington/World Ceilidh 2010 over the w/end. (Town & Country Taxis tel no 01292 551 661)
You can of course take the Knock bus from Glasgow to/from World Ceilidh 2010 From the south, nearest train station is Ayr, or New Cumnock. From both stations there is a bus to from Dalmellington over the weekend. Cheap train return tickets can be obtained to New Cumnock, Glasgow Central or Ayr [via Glasgow Central] from London or anywhere en route if you book early enough.

Knockengorroch festival site is around 55 miles from Dumfries. If you want to reach Knockengorroch from Dumfries, you need to get a bus to Castle Douglas, and from Castle Douglas a bus to Dalmellington [bus no 520] which runs twice daily from Castle Douglas [no service on Sunday] . Ask to be let off at Meadowhead or Lamford, and you are then at the ‘road end’ and 4 miles by road from the festival, the closest you can reach Knockengorroch using public transport.

Bus times for the LOCAL 520 bus service [ABC Travel] from Castle Douglas to Dalmellington and back. Bus runs Mon to Sat - NO SUNDAY SERVICE either way.
CASTLE DOUGLAS TO DALMELLINGTON:
leaves Castle Douglas at 8.50am and 12.50pm, arriving Dalmellington 10.07am and 2.07pm. Meadowhead and Lamford are approx 10 min before bus reaches Dalmellington. Ask to be let off at Meadowhead or Lamford and you are then at the ‘road end’ and 4 miles by road from the festival From Dalmellington to Castle Douglas: leaves Dalmellington 10.20AM AND 2.20PM, arriving Castle Douglas 11.38AM AND 3.33 PM. You need to be at road end by 10.20 OR 2.20 to be sure of catching the bus which needs flagging down.
