CREWING
FAQs
Q What
kind of work is there?
A
Most jobs are stewarding the festival site. If
you have catering/ kitchen experience there are limited
positions preparing food in the crew kitchen. There are also driving and some night stage sitter jobs available.
Stewarding
involves directing traffic and campers into the camping and parking fields. Any
kind of experience with the general public, and working at outdoor events
is useful for this job.
Please fill out your job preferences on the application form and bear in mind your skills and experience as well as your interests when doing this. There is some competition for some jobs and we will try to allocate jobs to those who are most suitable. Do not only tick one job as we will not necessarily be able to give you your first choice.
Q:
How many hours do crew work?
A
Stewarding and cooking involve 4 x 4 hour shifts between thursday and
sunday. Some may be back to back.
For
night shifters the hours are slightly less. A stage sitting job will
involve one night shift (12midnight to 8am or 2am to 10am) guarding the
stage equipment and one day shift of 4 hours.
Q What
is the food like?
A: We provide 3 vegetarian meals a day. Breakfast
of porridge and/ or toast, and two more hot meals. You
will need to bring any luxuries or special dietary needs with you. There are no villages, towns or shops
nearby!
Q How
do I get there/ where is it?
A:
Knockengorroch Farm is off the A713 in between Dalmellington and Carsphairn
in Dumfries and Galloway. The
nearest train station is Ayr to the North and New Cumnock to the South. The nearest bus station is Dalmellington
to the North and Castle Douglas to the South. There are some infrequent
buses that go past the festival road end.
If
you can make your way to Dalmellington we will pick up crew from Dalmellington
square on Thursday 18th May.

Q: Where
do I stay?
A:
There is a crew camping area. You
will need to bring all your own camping equipment, including tent!
Q: When
do I have to be there and when am I needed until?
A: The festival gates open at 10am on Friday morning to the public. Most crew must be on site by Thursday afternoon for the briefing and are expected to stay until Monday morning. Some stewarding positions may involve coming on Wednesday (and therefore getting more work done before the festival). If you are doing a night shift you may be able to arrive on Friday. This must be arranged beforehand. If you need to leave on Sunday night this may be possible but please let us know.
Q: Can
I work with my friend/ girl/boyfriend?
A:
If you have a friend who wishes to come and crew, they need to apply
in their own right. If you state that you are with them we
will do our best to rota you on together, but we cannot guarantee this
at all times.
The deadline for crew applications is 30th April
