Knockengorroch’s Winter Warmer with Mungo’s Hifi and Esperanza
8.30pm-3am, Friday 17th February 2017, The Venue, Dumfries
Knockengorroch’s Winter Warmer returns to The Venue Dumfries, bringing a touch of the Galloway Hills and World Ceilidh magic to Dumfries.
Featuring Knockengorroch Festival’s residents, international and legendary Reggae sound system – Mungo’s Hi Fi, to take us on a dancehall reggae extravaganza with some industrial strength drum ‘n’ bass thrown in for good measure. Rare visitors to Dumfries, don’t miss this chance to see these guys in action.
We welcome back Esperanza, one of Glasgow’s hardest working ska bands, famed for their live shows, bringing a jumping, superskanking party noise to the night. We defy you not to dance.
With more music, including Easy Skankin Crew, a trad session, and perhaps even a line-up announcement, dispel those winter blues and get a taste of Knockengorroch’s World Ceilidh, celebrating our 20th year of music festivals in 2017.
Doors open 8.30pm
Tickets: Buy online below. Also available over the counter from Barnstorm Records and The Midsteeple. On the door price £13.

Knockengorroch presents 47SOUL, Samedia, Awry, Beasties & more
10pm-3am, Friday 24th February 2017, Studio 24, Edinburgh
Knockengorroch presents a top bill of World Ceildh festival favourites.
47SOUL: Palestinian electro debke music – ‘sham step’. ‘On top of the beats that have been bumping in the Arab World for centuries 47SOUL hypes it up with analog synthesisers, hypnotic guitar lines, and shattering verses from the four singers’. They’re based between Jordan, Palestine and London. This is their first Edinburgh date.
47SOUL have crossed over, a bridge from the East to the West.
It is rare you find a band with such a unique sound and vibe.
Line Rindvig, MTV
Samedia Soundsystem: The perfect people to take us from 47SOUL into the night. Afrobeat, hi-life, Arabic melodies, cumbia, samba, salsa, get mixed upwith cutting edge basslines and computerised beats, with dashings of dancehall, house and all kinds of other spice.
Awry: If ever you wanted to freak -dance with wild abandon to a bagpipe and fiddle -driven band who have forge -fire for blood and soil between their toes. Carried along on a bed of sound between ‘Blar’ ( valley plain) and ‘beinn’ (mountain peak), dusted in sea -swell then Awry’s creations are for you … Providers of the now infamous Knockengorroch Sunday ceilidh.
The Beastie Drummers: Here to make you DANCE. Mutant beats from across the globe played live by total nutters. Regular and integral Beltane heads and Knockengorroch stalwarts.
£9 absolute bargain earlybird price throughout Jan, £10 in advance £13 on the door. All monies go to the World Ceilidh festival in May.
