Flew the Arrow

From the heart of Burns Country in South West Scotland, Flew The Arrow is the folk project of singer, guitarist, and songwriter Lee McGilvray. Founder of Glasgow’s award-winning folk club Gathering South Sessions, he has spent the past decade performing at festivals and venues across Scotland, sharing songs shaped by love, loss, and the landscapes of his homeland.
His music blends traditional folk with modern influences, from his debut EP Trossach (2019) to his independently released Huntress/The Warmth & The Weight (2022). He also collaborated with An Dannsa Dub on My Blood Runs Deep, now with over 90,000 streams. His latest single Follow Your Bliss (2024) paves the way for his debut album, marking his next chapter in Scottish folk.
A regular at Knockengorroch, Eden, Kelburn Garden Party, and beyond, he has supported acts including Ye Vagabonds, The Langan Band, and Daniel Romano.
Flew the Arrow aka Lee McGilvray also hosts and curates the award winning Gathering South Sessions club in Glasgow – coming for the first time to Knockengorroch as part of the Gathering South Takeover: Live in The Langwhan. Featuring Sarah Hanniffy & Fionnlagh Mac A’Phiocair, Sam Grassie and Mango Lassie
An intimate concert series rooted in Glasgow’s Southside, Gathering South Sessions showcases the finest in folk and traditional music. Launched as a house concert series in 2018, it evolved through lockdown with the acclaimed ‘Gathering South Goes West’ video series before expanding into a live venue format as ‘Gathering South Presents’—now Glasgow’s only regular folk club and winner of ‘Club of the Year’ at the 2023 BBC MG Alba Scots Trad Music Awards.
For the first time, Gathering South steps beyond Glasgow, bringing its signature warmth and musical magic to Knockengorroch’s Longhouse for a special collaboration and takeover.
