You may have heard the blues, but you’ve never heard anything quite like John Fairhurst. His set in the Shieling next May will be one not to miss!
John’s voice is the deepest you’ll ever come across and his distinctive growl takes you back to how blues is supposed to sound – back to the raw, earthiness of its roots.
You might mistake him for a Mississippi original because of that southern-soaked slide guitar and recognisable stomp, but John hails from Greater Manchester. He tours extensively across the UK and Europe and is a charismatic, seasoned performer. His guitar playing is second to none.
But this is not the kind of blues you’ve heard before. The sometimes-named Wigan Jimi Hendrix blends rock, punk, UK skiffle to create his distinctive sound – challenging his audiences to keep up with him.
His hypnotic sound will pull you in, spit you out and pull you back in again.
A true original, we can’t wait for his performance at this year’s festival – we are ready to be hit by his ‘thumping wall of electric blues.’
