We are delighted to announce the fantastic line-up for our special one night Knockengorroch gig, which takes us back to our roots for a limited audience.
Saturday 18th September is when LIVE MUSIC will be happening on the Bo Airigh stage!
Electric Jalaba (pictured): Six musicians with an empathy that feels telepathic, and a groove that immerses and dazzles. Feel the hypnotic pulse of Moroccan Gnawa music, a North African tradition with healing at its core, as it swirls with psychedelia, the echoes of Jamaican dub, the cyclical trance of electronic music and the transformations of jazz. We can’t wait to experience this incredible band again at Knockengorroch.
Holiday Club: Knockengorroch troubadours Luisa Brown on Fiddle, Freya Rae on Whistle/flute. Darragh Quinn on Guitar and Callum Younger on Bodhrán playing celtic, acoustic, folky beats and melodies combined with an excellent sense of humour and rhythm. These guys may also be found leading a session or two around the site.
Baka Beyond: The original Afro Celtic dance band, inspired by the sounds of the rainforest. This band and Knockengorroch go back a long way and we are thrilled to be hosting them again! Those who caught their Baka pygmy singing workshop in the Longhouse some years ago will be able to join in as they bring their joyous and uplifting sounds to the Bo Airigh stage.
Blick Bassy: Imagine a West African artist with the tenderly subversive touch of Bon Iver, the haunting falsetto of Skip James, the razor-like mind of Akala, and the inventiveness of Moses Sumney, and you’ve just imagined Cameroonian Blick Bassy. He’s over from Belgium touring the UK and we just couldn’t miss out on having him at Knockengorroch, appearing as a duo in our lush meadows.
What can we say about the inimitable, much loved band Shooglenifty? A firm Knockengorroch favourite, who go back longer on the scene than we do…They are absolute pioneers on the Scottish traditional scene, having coined the term Acid Croft music. They premiered their new video Black Dog at our Virtually Knockengorroch event and have been waiting to play our field again since we billed them in 2020. We can’t wait to have them back!
There will NOT be programmed entertainment on Friday or Sunday. There will be a bar on these nights and campers are welcome to entertain themselves with acoustic instruments only.
There will NOT be sound systems on site and we cannot host any private sound systems so please do not bring them!
All under 16 year olds go free to the Big Gig, as long as accompanied by a parent/ guardian. We have confirmed pond dipping and drumming workshops and will have more kids activities to be announced.
Well behaved dogs on leads are, as ever, welcome also.
