Mungo’s Hi Fi

We can’t wait to welcome back Knockengorroch staples the mighty, the massive, the magnificent Mungo’s Hi Fi, bringing their unique take on ska, reggae, dancehall and dubstep to the hills once more!
Now firm favourites in the underground music scene, Dougie No Pain, Craigy Wonder, Breezak Bass and Tommy Danger are the Scottish collective known as Mungo’s Hi Fi. This year they are joined by Eva Lazarus in her first trip to Knockengorroch.
Mungo’s love soundsystem culture to the core – from its Jamaican roots to raves, club and festivals. When performing as DJs, playing on their heavyweight soundsystem, producing music, collaborating with vocalists and releasing artists on their label, Scotch Bonnet, they create a uniquely uplifting experience.
It all started at the turn of the millennium with two like minded dance DJs. True to reggae/dancehall’s DIY ethos, they built their first sound system from speakers found in a skip and began producing on an old Atari. Highly collaborative, they started inviting visiting vocalists to their regular nights in Glasgow to hold the mic and then join them in the studio. In 2005 they founded their Scotch Bonnet label and have stayed fully independent ever since. So far, they’ve released five albums featuring an ensemble of talented artists and have worked with everyone from Sugar Minott and Ranking Joe in Jamaica to Major Lazer in America, Kenny Knots and Solo Banton in England, and Scotland’s Soom T.
Don’t miss them taking up some big loud space in The Shieling tent!
